What Is the Thermocouple Trainer Kit Used For?
It is used for sensor practicals on temperature measurement. The water heater gives a changing temperature to work with, and the thermometer supplies a reference reading, so the thermocouple reading on the panel meter can be checked against it as the water warms.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does a thermocouple produce a reading?
A thermocouple is a junction of two dissimilar metals. By the Seebeck effect it generates a small voltage that depends on the temperature difference between the measuring junction and the reference junction — only a few millivolts over this range. Signals that small are normally amplified before they are displayed.
How does it differ from the RTD Trainer Kit?
Both kits have the same temperature range, panel meter, instrumentation amplifier, thermometer and water heater. The difference is the sensor: this kit uses a K-type thermocouple, which generates its own voltage, while the RTD Trainer Kit uses a PT-100 sensor whose resistance rises with temperature.
Who manufactures the Thermocouple Trainer Kit?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of electronic lab instruments and sensor trainers, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This trainer is built in the company’s own workshop, not bought from a trader, and institutions, dealers and importers order it factory-direct. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — Namibia in Southern Africa, Finland in Northern Europe, Zambia in East Africa, Guyana in South America and Italy in Southern Europe are a few examples.
