Training Board for MOSFET (code EL-AET-1467) is an analog electronics training board for determining the drain characteristics of a MOSFET experimentally and studying the device as an amplifier, with its voltage gain measured in the common source configuration. Three continuously variable regulated DC supplies — 0–15 V, 0–4 V and 0–1 V — are built in with the MOSFET. It is produced in Ambala, India, at the works of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab).

How Does It Compare with Other JLab MOSFET Trainers?
| Model | Experiments | Supplies | Meters |
|---|---|---|---|
| This board (EL-AET-1467) | Drain characteristics; common source amplifier voltage gain | 0–15 V, 0–4 V and 0–1 V DC, variable, regulated | External digital DC voltmeter and current meter |
| Mosfet Characteristics Apparatus (three-meter panel model) | Drain characteristics: drain current against drain–source voltage for different gate–source voltages | Two DC supplies: 0–10 V DC, 10 mA and 0–5 V DC | Three meters for voltage and current |
| Mosfet Characteristics Apparatus (aluminium-panel model) | V-I characteristics of an N-channel MOSFET | Inbuilt, variable: 0–5 V DC and 0–25 V DC | Analog moving coil meters on an aluminium front panel |
Choose this board when the practical covers both the drain characteristics and the MOSFET working as a common source amplifier. The two Mosfet Characteristics Apparatus models are built for the characteristic curves, one with three meters on its panel and the other with moving coil meters on an aluminium front panel.
What Is the MOSFET Training Board Used For?
A MOSFET is a voltage-controlled transistor: the gate is insulated from the channel by a thin oxide layer, so it draws almost no current, and the gate–source voltage sets how much current flows from drain to source. Plotting drain current against drain–source voltage for several gate voltages gives the family of drain characteristics, with an ohmic region at low drain voltage and a saturation region beyond it. In the second experiment a small audio signal is applied to the gate in the common source configuration, and the ratio of output to input voltage gives the amplifier’s voltage gain. Both experiments belong to the electronic devices and circuits practicals of diploma, BSc electronics and engineering courses.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Model — this board or one of the characteristic-curve apparatus compared above.
- Number of boards for the laboratory.
- Any test instruments or companion FET trainers to be quoted on the same enquiry.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do the drain characteristics of a MOSFET show?
They show how drain current changes with drain–source voltage at a series of fixed gate–source voltages. The current first rises almost linearly, then levels off in the saturation region, and the spacing between the curves shows how strongly the gate voltage controls the current — the device’s transconductance.
What does the common source amplifier experiment measure?
Its voltage gain: the AC output voltage at the drain divided by the AC input voltage at the gate. The output of a common source stage is also inverted in phase relative to the input, which can be seen by comparing the two waveforms on an oscilloscope.
Why does a MOSFET have such a high input impedance?
Because its gate is separated from the channel by an insulating oxide layer, practically no current flows into the gate. That makes the MOSFET easy to drive from a weak signal source and is one reason it is so widely used in amplifiers and switching circuits.
What other apparatus is needed?
An audio frequency generator, an AC millivoltmeter, a 20 MHz cathode ray oscilloscope, and 3½-digit digital DC voltmeter and current meter. JLab’s Audio Signal Generator and A.C. Milli Voltmeter Type are separate items, linked below, that can be quoted on the same enquiry.
What information is needed for an export quotation?
The number of boards, the destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, packing or labelling instructions, and the tender reference where relevant.
Who manufactures the Training Board for MOSFET?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, builds it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of electronics and physics laboratory trainers in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The MOSFET board is made at JLab’s own works rather than bought in, so universities, polytechnics, dealers and importers buy it directly from the manufacturer; each board is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders and spares are handled by the same works. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Spain in Southern Europe, Romania in Eastern Europe, Japan in East Asia, Canada in North America and Tajikistan in Central Asia. Tender details are on the JLab lab tenders page.
