Product Code : EL-BE-5888
Jlab Export is a leading Uniport/ Symport, Antiport Model Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Uniport/ Symport, Antiport Model (code EL-BE-5888) is a biology teaching model of the three ways carrier proteins move solutes across a membrane: one substance on its own (uniport), two together in the same direction (symport), or two in opposite directions (antiport). It matches the class 11 treatment of membrane transport and college physiology. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Uniport, Symport and Antiport Model Used For?

Carrier proteins bind a solute on one side of the membrane, change shape and release it on the other. In a uniport only one kind of molecule is carried, as when GLUT transporters let glucose move down its concentration gradient by facilitated diffusion. A symport carries two kinds together, such as the sodium–glucose cotransporter of intestinal and kidney cells, while an antiport swaps one for another, as the sodium–calcium and sodium–hydrogen exchangers do.

Symport and antiport are grouped as cotransport. Many cotransporters are examples of secondary active transport: one solute runs down a gradient set up by an ion pump, and that movement drives the second solute against its own gradient. The model gives teachers a clear picture for these comparisons and for the porters described in the class 11 chapter on transport in plants.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the sodium–potassium pump an antiport?
It moves sodium out and potassium in, so in direction it behaves like an antiport. It differs from most cotransporters because it is powered directly by ATP (primary active transport) rather than by an existing ion gradient.

Which carriers and labels does the model show?
The listing does not describe its parts, size or material. Ask JLab for a description and photograph along with the quotation.

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a laboratory equipment and biology model manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. Models such as this are made in JLab’s own works rather than bought from traders, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy directly from the producer and reorder from it.
