Product Code : EL-SI-8050
Jlab Export is a leading Adjustable D.C. Current Source Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Adjustable D.C. Current Source (code EL-SI-8050) is a mains-operated bench unit that delivers a continuously adjustable direct current of 0–10 A, used in physics, electrical engineering and polytechnic labs wherever an experiment needs a steady heavy current. A built-in 0–10 A ammeter shows the current, and the output is taken from two heavy brass terminals. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Adjustable D.C. Current Source Used For?
A variable DC current source feeds a known, steady current into a test circuit. In the lab it supplies the test current for low-resistance measurement on a double bridge, current for checking ammeters and shunts, and current for coils, solenoids and electromagnets in magnetism experiments. Inside, the variac sets the AC voltage, the step-down transformer lowers it, the bridge rectifier turns it into DC and the filter circuit smooths the output, while the panel ammeter reads the current delivered.
Because the output voltage is only about 0–10 V, the current you get depends on the resistance of what you connect: by Ohm’s law, the full 10 A is reached only with loads of about 1 ohm or less. Start with the control turned fully down, connect the load to the brass terminals with leads thick enough for the current, then raise the control slowly while watching the ammeter. Turn the current down again before disconnecting, and give heavy-current runs short breaks, as connecting wires and the load warm up at several amperes.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units, supplied individually.
- Mains supply — the listed input is 230 V AC, 50 Hz; state your local mains voltage and frequency with the enquiry.
- The load you will drive — give its approximate resistance and the current you need, so JLab can confirm the unit suits it within its 0–10 V output.
- Companion instruments — add any bridge, meters or rheostats you want with it to the same enquiry.
Frequently Asked Questions
What current and voltage does this source deliver?
It gives a continuously adjustable DC current of 0–10 A at an output of approximately 0–10 V. The current actually reached depends on the external load connected to the terminals.
Why can’t I always reach 10 A?
The output voltage limits it. With roughly 10 V available, Ohm’s law allows 10 A only through about 1 ohm or less; a higher-resistance load draws proportionally less current at full setting.
How is the current read?
On the built-in 0–10 A ammeter. For a finer or independent reading, an external ammeter, or a shunt with a millivoltmeter, can be connected in series with the load.
What mains supply does it need?
The listed input is 230 V AC mains at 50 Hz (shown as 50 c/s). Mention your local supply when you ask for a quote.
What details does an export quotation need?
The quantity, destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, any packing or labelling instructions, and a tender reference where there is one.
Who makes this current source?
JLab (Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd) manufactures it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and supplies it direct.
OEM Manufacturer
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, is a lab instruments maker in India, incorporated in 2017 and located on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This current source is built in JLab’s own works, not sourced from a trader, so colleges, training institutes, dealers and importers buy straight from the factory, every unit is visually inspected before it ships, and follow-up orders and service parts come from the manufacturer itself. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for instance Turkey in the Middle East, Ethiopia in East Africa, North Macedonia in Southern Europe, Myanmar in Southeast Asia and Uzbekistan in Central Asia. For tender supply, see the JLab lab tenders page.
Instruments Often Used with It
- Industrial Double Bridge — a low-resistance bridge rated up to 10 A intermittently that needs an external DC supply.
- Groove Type Rheostat Tube — a Eureka-wire rheostat with a brass slider and copper brushes for smooth current control in a circuit.
- Digital Panel Meters — mains-operated LED digital meters that can be chosen for DC current, DC voltage or AC voltage.
- Calibration of Voltmeter & Ammeter — a unit with digital panel meters, a built-in standard cell and connecting leads for meter calibration work.
- External Shunts with 50 mV or 75 mV Drop — shunts for measuring heavy DC currents with a millivoltmeter.
More instruments are listed in the Scientific Instrument range and the Indian Instruments section.
