What Is the Anopheles Male Female Model Used For?
Male and female Anopheles are told apart mainly by the head. In both sexes the palps are about as long as the proboscis, but the male’s palps are club-shaped at the tip and his antennae are bushy, while the female’s antennae carry only short, sparse hairs. Only the female bites, because she needs a blood meal to mature her eggs; the male feeds on nectar and plant juices. Adults rest with the body tilted at an angle to the surface.
Mosquito vectors appear in class 11 biology (animal kingdom) and in class 12 lessons on malaria, as well as in college zoology and public-health courses. Among zoology models, a male–female pair makes sexual dimorphism easy to explain.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I tell a male Anopheles from a female?
Look at the antennae and palps: the male has bushy antennae and palps with club-shaped tips, the female has sparsely haired antennae and slender palps.
Why does only the female spread malaria?
Only females take blood, which they need to develop their eggs. A female that bites an infected person can pick up Plasmodium and pass it on at a later bite.
How is Anopheles different from Culex?
Anopheles rests at an angle and its females have long palps; Culex rests parallel to the surface and its females have short palps. Anopheles lays single eggs with floats and its larvae lie flat on the water, whereas Culex lays egg rafts and its larvae hang down from a breathing siphon.
Who manufactures the model?
JLab makes it in Ambala, India; size and material are confirmed with the quotation.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian maker of laboratory equipment and zoology and biology teaching models, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The model comes from JLab’s own works, not from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy factory-direct, with each piece visually inspected before dispatch. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — the Maldives in South Asia, Canada in North America, Hungary in Eastern Europe, Senegal in West Africa and Sweden in Northern Europe are examples. Tender buyers can use the JLab lab tenders page.
