Cd, Cc and Cv
The coefficient of discharge Cd is the actual discharge divided by the theoretical discharge. For flow through an opening of area a under a head H, the theoretical discharge is a√(2gH); the real flow is smaller because the jet contracts and loses some velocity, so Cd = Cc × Cv, the product of the coefficients of contraction and velocity. Readings at several valve settings show how steady Cd stays as the flow changes.
Setting Up the Unit
The rig needs only a single-phase 200/220 V supply and water to fill the sump tank. Once the sump is filled, the pump draws from it and the control valve sets the flow rate. With every item on one framework and no foundation work, the unit can stand wherever the supply and water are at hand.
