Glacier Model (code EL-ERAM-4422) is a geography teaching model of a glacier — a large, persistent body of ice that forms where the accumulation of snow exceeds its ablation. It lets students study a landform that few of them will ever see up close, and the valley-shaping power of moving ice. The model is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Glacier Model Used For?
Each winter, snow that does not melt is buried by the next fall, compacts into granular firn and slowly turns into dense glacial ice. Once thick enough, the ice flows downhill under its own weight. Ablation — loss by melting, evaporation and the breaking-off of ice — works against this build-up, and a glacier survives only where accumulation wins. As it moves, a glacier grinds its valley into a broad U shape, carves armchair-shaped hollows called cirques and leaves ridges of rock debris, or moraines, where it melts. Himalayan glaciers such as the Gangotri, which feeds the Bhagirathi headstream of the Ganga, sustain major rivers.
The model supports the work of glaciers in class 7 geography and glacial landforms in class 11 physical geography, as well as lessons on climate and water resources.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a glacier?
A large, persistent body of ice that forms where the accumulation of snow exceeds its ablation.
What does ablation mean?
The loss of snow and ice from a glacier, mainly by melting, evaporation and ice breaking off. If ablation outpaces accumulation for years, the glacier shrinks.
What size is the model?
Size and material are not given in this listing; ask JLab and they will be confirmed in the quotation.
Who manufactures it?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, at its works in Ambala, Haryana.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of geography laboratory models and other science teaching equipment, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The model is made in JLab’s own works, not resold from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers order from the source and get repeat supplies from the same team. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Eswatini in Southern Africa, Tajikistan in Central Asia, Nepal in South Asia, Australia in Oceania and Mexico in North America.
