Measurement of Inductance and Capacitance

Product Code : EL-AET-1472
Jlab Export is a leading Measurement of Inductance and Capacitance Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Measurement of Inductance and Capacitance (code EL-AET-1472) is an analog electronics training board for measuring the value of an unknown capacitance and of an unknown inductance by a null method. Five unknown capacitors and three unknown inductors are selected by band switches, and a 1 kHz sine-wave oscillator with an audio amplifier and speaker for null detection is built in. The board is a JLab product, manufactured by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd in Ambala, India.

How Does It Compare with Other JLab Inductance and Capacitance Trainers?

ModelMeasuresSourceNull detector
This board (EL-AET-1472)Unknown capacitance and unknown inductance; five capacitors and three inductors on band switchesBuilt-in 1 kHz sine-wave oscillatorAudio amplifier and speaker
Schering Bridge TrainerUnknown capacitance by the Schering bridge; three unknown capacitors on a band switch1 kHz sine-wave oscillatorAudio amplifier with speaker
Anderson BridgeInductance of a given coil by the Anderson bridge; three inductances1 kHz sine-wave oscillatorAudio amplifier with speaker
Maxwell Inductance Capacitance BridgeInductance in terms of a standard capacitanceBuilt-in 1 kHz sine-wave sourceNull detector with digital display

Choose this board when one trainer should cover both an unknown capacitance and an unknown inductance, with several unknowns of each kind on band switches. The Schering Bridge Trainer measures capacitance by the Schering method, the Anderson Bridge measures the inductance of a coil, and the Maxwell Inductance Capacitance Bridge shows its null on a digital display.

What Is the Inductance and Capacitance Board Used For?

The board teaches how a null-balance measurement finds the value of a reactive component. The unknown capacitor or inductor is compared with known components at 1 kHz; the decade resistances are adjusted until the signal reaching the detector falls to a minimum, and the unknown value is then calculated from the known values. Because the out-of-balance signal is amplified and played through the speaker, the balance point is heard as the tone fading away. It is a standard experiment in BSc physics, electrical measurements and diploma electronics laboratories.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Model — this board or one of the other bridges compared above.
  • Number of boards for the laboratory.
  • Companion bridge trainers to be quoted on the same enquiry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a speaker used as the null detector?
At 1 kHz the out-of-balance signal is a clearly audible tone. The audio amplifier makes even a small imbalance loud enough to hear, and as the circuit approaches balance the sound fades, so students can find the null by ear.

Why are several unknown capacitors and inductors provided?
With five capacitors and three inductors on band switches, students can measure a number of different components in one session and groups can be given different unknowns, which makes the practical more thorough and the results easier to check against one another.

How does it differ from the De Sauty Bridge?
The De Sauty Bridge compares two capacitances using decade resistances, decade capacitors and a headphone, with an external bridge oscillator. This board measures both unknown capacitance and unknown inductance, with its own 1 kHz oscillator and a speaker null detector.

What information is needed for an export quotation?
The number of boards, the destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, packing or labelling instructions, and the tender reference when buying for a tender.

Who manufactures this board?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of physics apparatus, AC bridges and electronics trainers, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This board is made at JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so universities, colleges, dealers and importers order it from the maker directly; every board is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders and spares are handled by the same works. JLab is registered under GSTIN 06AADCJ9848D1ZE and carries Legal Entity Identifier 549300DTGS77DGYD6N03. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Luxembourg in Western Europe, Ukraine in Eastern Europe, Tanzania in East Africa, DR Congo in Central Africa and Libya in North Africa. Tender details are on the JLab lab tenders page.
